Installing Wisprcat

Open the DMG

Open the downloaded .dmg file, then drag Wisprcat.app onto the Applications shortcut in the window that opens.

First open, macOS 15 (Sequoia)

Sequoia removed the right-click-to-open bypass, so use System Settings instead:

1. Double-click Wisprcat.app in Applications. macOS will say it can't verify the developer. Click Done.
2. Open System Settings > Privacy & Security and scroll to the Security section.
3. Click Open Anyway next to the Wisprcat message, then confirm with your password.

You only do this once, on the very first launch.

First open, macOS 14 (Sonoma)

Right-click Wisprcat.app in Applications, choose Open, then choose Open again in the dialog that appears. Also once only.

Grant permissions

When prompted, grant Microphone access so Wisprcat can hear you, and Accessibility access so it can type into whatever app you're using. Both are one-time approvals in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Start dictating

Press and hold Control+Space, speak, and release. Your words appear where your cursor is. You can change the hotkey anytime in Settings.

Why the prompt appears

Wisprcat is code-signed but not notarized through Apple's paid developer program, so macOS shows this warning on first launch. The app runs entirely on-device: nothing you say or type is ever uploaded.
